Welcome to Glenmary farm & retreat house! You'll have the entire 4-bedroom century farmhouse to yourself with wood floors throughout, cozy beds, country-fresh linens, and a well-stocked kitchen. The owner lives in a private apartment at the back of the house and will be on the property, tending to the animals and the gardens. The house is part of a 3-acre, permaculture farmstead in the Whitewater region of the fertile Ottawa Valley. You’ll be just a 10-minute walk into the cute-as-a-button village of Beachburg and a short 15-minute drive to world-class whitewater rafting.
This century home and farmstead has everything you need for a memorable and unique vacation and country retreat. Prepare to relax as soon as you step inside this 4-bedroom home that was built in 1897. You’ll love to cook in the country kitchen with all the basics provided including a stove top, oven, full-sized fridge, and cooking and baking basics. Enjoy a meal together at the dining table for six before retiring to the living room for some board games or snuggling up with a good book. Depending on the season, the front deck is also a great spot for dinner or after dinner enjoyment.
Sleep soundly in the primary suite, which offers a queen-size bed, loveseat, desk and large closet. The second bedroom is furnished with a double bed, desk and chair. The third bedroom is fitted with a twin bed, large bookcase, and a very comfy chair. The fourth bedroom has a double bed, large oak desk, extra chair and a large closet. The full bathroom has its own heater for chilly mornings.
This home is great for families, couples, or friends looking for a rural escape. There are THREE laptop-friendly desks and high-speed internet, perfect for an extended work-from-home stay. Work remotely during the day, take a stroll into the village before sunset, and do some whitewater rafting on weekends.
The neighbourhood has surrounding crop land and working dairy farms so there is the potential for sounds and smells associated with that. Enjoy the sounds of nature, beautiful sunsets, bright stars and the warmth of a glowing bonfire. We currently have some livestock and poultry on the property, adding to your country experience. We are located about 1.25 hrs West of Ottawa, 3.5 hrs from Montreal, and about 20 minutes from Pembroke.
For an additional fee, breakfast can be provided which includes juice, toast, yogurt, fruit, cheese, eggs and seasonal features.
