Welcome to the perfect slice of cottage life located in the heart of Haliburton, a scenic 2 hour and 15 minute drive from the GTA. This newly renovated Minden cottage has a light, airy feel with natural wood finishes making it an extension of the outdoors. Sprawling over 2.7 acres, this property feels like it's nestled in a lush forest canopy. Head down to the lake where you can enjoy over 170 feet of private waterfront. Maple Ridge is the perfect couples retreat or family vacation destination!

KITCHEN: The luxurious kitchen - fit for a chef - features a farmhouse sink, quartz counters, and custom ash wood shelves. Start your day off with a cup of coffee or espresso with our dual feature machine. This fully equipped kitchen comes complete with everything you'll need to make the perfect meal. Complimentary spices and oil included. The space includes a dishwasher to make after-meal clean-ups a breeze.
BEDROOMS: Upstairs you’ll find the uniquely-furnished bedrooms which all have views of the lake. There are two primary bedrooms with queen mattresses and one bunk room that features a twin above a double mattress. Each room has either a closet or dresser for your personal items. All linens and towels are included.
LIVING SPACE: Vaulted ceilings and an open-concept layout filled with pine, maple, and ash bring the natural elements inside to create a relaxed atmosphere where you’ll feel right at home. The skylights, massive west-facing windows and double French doors flood the space with natural light and provide a beautiful sunset glow. The two sets of French doors open into a large screen porch where on it becomes an extension of the cottages living space on those warm summer days. The space is heated with a wood stove (not accessible in summer months) and a forced-air furnace. The living space also features a 55" LG Smart TV with streaming apps for you to access (Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Crave TV, and more). There is a sofa with extra pillows and a comfortable lounge chair to relax in for a lake view. The space is filled with custom handmade maple and ash furniture and decor that was cut, milled and custom created on site.
BATHROOMS: The upstairs bathroom features a stand up shower with bench, custom ash vanity, and unique faucet. The main floor bathroom features a bathtub. Both bathrooms are stocked with septic-safe shampoo, conditioner & body wash. Additional toiletries and first aid kit are provided in the pantry beside the kitchen. Complimentary towels are provided for bathroom use. Beach towels are not provided.
OUTDOOR AREAS: In addition to our screened in-porch with sectional seating and dining, there is an attached outdoor decking area where you will find the BBQ and two additional lounge chairs. Take the gently sloped winding path through the forest down to the lake (about 45 seconds to a 1 minute walk), or the private gravel laneway. The private dead-end laneway runs between the cottage and the lake. There are 7 cottages past Maple Ridge before the laneway ends, which means there is not much usage. Both the laneway and ridge trail will lead you to the lake where you can choose between a shallow sandy entry or jumping off the dock. The waterfront is tucked into a portion of the lake that is very private, surrounded by massive boulders and trees. Just off the side of the house is where you will find the fire pit area for cooler summer and fall nights (must adhere to local fire ban when applicable).
ACTIVITIES: Horseshoe Lake is part of a 2-lake chain and provides plenty to explore with crystal clear water for swimming, diving and relaxing. Down at the beautiful shoreline we have dock chairs for you to relax and soak up some vitamin D. If you prefer the shade, there is additional seating along the water’s edge. There’s a canoe, and kayak for you to use. 4 adult life jackets in varying sizes are provided, as well as 2 youth life jackets. Horseshoe Lake features the Minden White Water Preserve on one end which is perfect for kayak lessons or just admiring the raging white water. The north end of the lake features Haliburton’s finest golf course - Blairhampton Golf Club. Plan an excursion to one of the many local golf courses (5), hiking trails or the town of Haliburton (15 mins drive) Minden (12 mins drive) to check out local breweries, restaurants, local shops and more!
NOTES: Please show Maple Ridge and the many one-of-a-kind items on the property the same respect as if they were your own. We truly believe this the one of the best experiences and cottage rentals in Minden. We’ve spent a lot of time creating this warm, inviting space and we hope to share it with guests for a long time to come. You can access the cottage by a well-maintained road and it has plenty of private parking. It's a short, flat distance from the parking to the cottage which makes load-in/out easy. Guests access the cottage via smart lock with custom key code entry. This space is listed as not suitable for young children as there is no child-proofing throughout the space. There are no child guards for the stairs and most of the décor would not be considered child friendly. There is no room in the bedrooms for fold-out cribs and the wood stove is hazardous for children as it gets extremely hot to the touch. Although completely-out-of-sight, we do have neighbours at the cottage. There are many young families in the area, and although the property is heavily-treed, we ask you please be respectful and mindful of your noise levels during your stay. No bachelor/bachelorette parties.
